Target meeting: 06Jan10, 09:00

Present: CB, PH, JL, KL, PS, JT, AD, GB

1. Review of actions:

• PS, JL: write specification for generation of MICE target signal for ISIS BPS.
  Stands.
  
• GB: To liaise with JT and Shf to work out stator magnetic QA rig.
  Stands.
  GB has spoken to Diamond contact with experience in magnetic measurement.  Meeting arranged for this am, snow may cause it to be postponed.  Optimistic that the machine Diamond has available will be suitable.
  
• KL: To provoke email discussion of readout and analysis of thermocouple in target housing.
  Was done, must be done again -- so, 'stands'.  PS will take over action for January while he's at RAL as MOM.
  
• AD: will make archive of calibrations on target WWW site and make code available there too;
  This has been done.  AD is maintaining it.  Action can be removed.
  
• AD/PH: Will find a way of automating processing so that BLOC can check the histogram;
  Stands.
  
• PH: Inform trgt group how archiving of target data to GRID will be done.
  Stands.
  
• AN/KL: Seek additional support for magnetic analysis.
  Stands.
  
• PS: to contact CMacW to ask him to generate a consensus between MICE and ISIS.
  Done.
  
• PS: When ready in January, ask AN to find an independent person to review operation of new control system prior to installing it in MLCR.
  Stands.
  
• PS: Look at ways of including the "legal spill" marker feature.
  Stands.

2. Progress on mechanical design and fabrication:

2.1 Target assembly [2] and [3]: JT

• Sample of Vespel promised early December.  Batch that we were expecting was deemed to be poor.  Next batch will be ready end January.  JT has negotiated supply of material for a slightly increased cost.
• Agreed:
  • Start immediately with Torlon while pursuing Vespel and other materials.  Vespel, when it arrives, will displace work on Torlon.

2.2 Stator: CB

• CB spoke to RN to discuss progress on stator.  Coils have been sorted ready for assembly.  Should be able to construct stator in next two weeks;
• TB has proposals to make better coils.  Priority of the development of new coils to be reviewed once magnetic QA and magnetic calculations are progressed.  CB agreed to discuss with TB the magnetic modelling.

3. Target electronics and DAQ: PS, JL

• PS now at RAL will try and make progress.  CB will bring h/w for new controller to RAL next week.

• Wednesday, 13Jan10 at some point during the day when Shf crew arrive.
