MICE target phone meeting

1. Review of actions:

• JT, KL: Prepare PDF reference drawing set for inclusion on target WW site.
  Stands.

2. Review of running in R78:

2.1 Latest results: PH, EO

• See slides.

2.2 Discussion: All

• Upbeat!  Looks like no significant wear at 600k and variation in dip-depth satisfactory for MICE;
• Indication of condensation on top flange – to be added to daily inspection.

3. Progress on mechanical design and fabrication:

3.1 Target assembly [3] and [4]: JT

• No report this week.

3.2 Stator development: GB, BS

• GB:
• Had meeting with G.Burton, EC, and GB.  Agreed to make a large meeting to discuss scenarios that arose in the discussion.  EC has made SS stator former.  Issues in the machining; maintenance of pitch and thinness of slots;
• Will produce a cartoon and list of issues unknown to GB.  Then arrange a discission.  Goal to do meeting on Monday or Tuesday 29,30Nov10 in DL.
• Discussion:
• Various issues raised.  Discussed magnetic modelling.

3.3 Permanent magnet development: PH

• No report this week.

3. Target electronics and DAQ: PS, JL

• PS:
• Continuing with design work.  BPS cables have now been run to target rack and connections have been identified;
• Redesign of panels have been implemented;
• Small issue with PS board: larger gauge of copper has meant that the soldering is difficult.  Being looked at by JL.

4. Target paper: CB
