MICE Software

Web page maintained by Chris Rogers.

MICE uses several pieces of software. The main effort is in developing G4MICE, a custom software package with extensive capabilities. Other software used includes ICOOL, G4Beamline, Transport and Turtle. These pages focus on G4MICE. The necessary files to get started are available for download from this website, but for help or to get involved as a developer you should email Chris Rogers, the project coordinator, and join the mailing lists.

G4MICE's philosophy is to make easy things easy and difficult things possible. To this end, there are two ways to use G4MICE - either as a ready-to-compile set of applications for simulation and analysis of a variety of accelerator and detector configurations; or as a set of field map, physics modelling and analysis libraries on which to build specific new applications. It is hoped that the applications that are included with G4MICE are sufficient for most uses, but more complicated or specialised simulations and analysis may require user-specific algorithms.

G4MICE is available for Linux, Mac and Windows (under Cygwin).
